Me (left) and Jean (right) in 1969

It's a Polaroid photo, so it's more faded and battered than age would justify.

I had left the town where I'd started teaching in the summer of 1967, when Ex#1 got out of the army and we moved to Lansdale, Pa. In 1969 I came back to visit Jean. That's a wig I'm wearing. They were very popular then. That's not a wig she's wearing.

How well I remember the wigs!! I had several.

It was in the early 70's. I was about 21 or 22, working as a teller at a bank. I had a frosted, Dutch Boy style wig. It didn't fit well because my real hair was very long and took up a lot of room under the it. In order to keep in on, I wore a scarf with it. But it still had a tendency to creep up.

One day as I was helping an older gentleman, it was doing the "creeping" thing. I gave a little tug on the bangs to try to get it back in place. I tugged too hard! The wig came flying off, landing on the counter in front of my customer. I thought the poor guy was going to have a heart attack!!!
