It snowed again this morning, fast and hard, but only 2 inches worth. Not so bad ... except that it immediately turned to drizzle, which has formed a thick icy crust on top.
It's below freezing out there. How can it be drizzling?
I don't understand.

I'm guessing - heat rises, so maybe up in the clouds it's warm enough to rain ,but the air they measure closer to us is 32 degrees - only it's always colder in the clouds. Hm. But there are layers of air with different temps (as St. Louis inversions probably taught you) so maybe that's it.
It doesn't freeze on the way down? (Obviously not.) Sigh....
I thought sleet freezes on the way down, freezing rain is rain that freezes after it hits the pavement. Maybe. We just had a new experience here, snog, or freezing fog.
WE used to get freezing fog when I lived on Red Rock mountain. That stuff is EVIL!
